Welcome to Versado

Thank you for joining us here to share the story of our prized Versado wine project in Argentina.
Our intensive study and exhaustive quest brought us to this small, historic Malbec planting. With the right people around us, we are turning the potential of this vineyard, in this beautiful place, into a promising future.
In these "pages" we will share with you the stories about the place, the people and the passion that create Versado. To accentuate our personal connection, scattered throughout the site you will find speaker icons that will lead you to stories told in our own words, and in our own voices.
But we also believe that it is the wine we make that is the ultimate "voice of the vineyard." Pour some into your glass to truly start the conversation.
                                                  Salud,
Ann Sperling & Peter Gamble

Apr. 6, 2018 - After a "return to normal" growing conditions in 2018, we've lined up the harvest for tomorrow, April 7, 2018.  After lots of berry tasting, we've calibrated our visual assessment to establish the picking zones for Gran Reserva vs Reserva - the quality is that good! Everything will be hand-picked and sorted. We'll ferment in two lots and include whole clusters (33-40%) in the vats. We'll keep you posted.

Mar. 3, 2018 - "Ann Sperling could be the poster child for farming over multiple regions of the world. She lives in the Niagara Peninsula in Ontario, where she works for Southbrook Winery, and she co-owns with her sister Susan and their husbands Sperling Vineyards on long-time family property in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. There, she’s responsible for the running of the vineyard and winemaking.

"But if running from B.C. to Ontario isn’t enough travel, she and her husband Peter Gamble own a vineyard in Argentina."

June 15, 2017 - To quote from the June 24th Vintages catalogue, Ann Sperling and Peter Gamble are "Canada's winemaking 'power couple'." This is from a feature titled "The Cosmopolitan Canucks" that focuses on "10 talented Canadians who've gone international in their quest to share their passion with the world."

Ann and Peter's two-page spread includes the 2012 Versado Reserva Malbec, along with wines of Southbrook Vineyards and Benjamin Bridge.
