2012 harvest begun - and completed - today

Harvest began today in our three hectare vineyard, less than a week from when we (Ann and Peter) arrived in Mendoza. We were able to complete the hand harvest and to berry-sort our entire crop in one day. We are looking forward to a natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts that should start within the next few days.

    2012 harvest report

The frost in September in the region did not affect the Versado vineyard, however some neighbours suffered damage to their breaking buds. November saw a Zonda wind followed by the usually expected cool, wet conditions that reduced the eventual berries per cluster due to the effect on flowering.  December, January and February were typically warm and thankfully our old vines have returned to their former stature yielding small, black berries with good concentration and no raisining.
